Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Hi everyone In the future, I want to develop two things in my career: one is to improve my English, which is necessary in this globalized world, and especially in sociology. Second, I would like to get some king of masters degree. I don’t know if in Chile or somewhere else, even though I have some wishes, these don’t matter when it comes to real possibilities. . If I got the chance to study outside of Chile, I would definitely take it. However, I have to consider that it would be a problem to go to any non-Spanish speaking country, studying and living there would be hard if I’m not able to communicate with my surroundings. That’s why it’s very important to have a good English, and not only theoretically, but to be able to use it to speak to others and use it as a social trampoline and to get ahead in sociology. Many time, the Chilean State has wrong social policies when it comes to education. One of those is the segregation of the possibilities of learning a second language

Post 10: English Language Challenges

Hello everyone I personally believe that English, although it’s a challenge for me, is a good way to get tools. In that  sense, the blog is a good way to learn to write in English and express a thought in a coherent way. Because of that, I think the blog should be implemented earlier as a learning tool for English classes. I honestly think that the blog can reinforce every aspect of learning: writing, reading, listening. I admit to be a common Chilean with a ordinary knowledge of English. That´s why, after approving this class, I’d like to take an intensive English course somewhere I can dedicate more time to learning. It would be a good tool to acquire more social capital and possibilities of social mobility. Outside of English classes, I deal with the language mostly in movies (I’ve always liked watching them in the original language), TV shows, or the music that I listen to daily. These are things that I like and spend free time  on Bye!

Post 8: Winter Holidays

Hi everyone! When I think about winter vacation, I normally think about the cold, the rain, and gray weather, whether it’s one of those days when you have to go out and not come back until night, or one of those days when you decide to stay at home. Honestly, for me winter vacations mean sleeping until late and recover energy from the semester. It’s like a bear’s life. I don’t know what places I’ll visit yet, plus the time and the money are not much, so the will be vacations to rest. I think the only things I’ll do these two weeks is sit around and do things that I like, hopefully well accompanied, and then go back to work. Winter vacations are a good time to rest at home, compared to summer vacations. Especially for students who had a hard time with the semester, winter vacation can help recover some of that energy to keep going through the year. If I had some more money and time and the weather conditions were right, maybe I would go visit some of the foothills of Los Andes moun

Post 9: Changes to my Study Programme

Hy everyone! I think that in mi career of sociology, are not many thinks them reproach be to my study program. However, also I think that there could have others changes. Always I considered that should have known that I have problems with the quantitatives techniques, because the importance to study the sociology through the to two analytical perspectives: qualitative and quantitative. I think also that in the sociology, a fundamental element  in the discipline is try to manipulate a integral consciousness  about to the socials phenomenons. If I think in the future and him that I maked a living, the truth is that I dont known, but him that I can talk is that will be a work surrounded and influenced for others typical elements to this age, with for example the use of technology and the modifications that It generated in the structure of the work, above all the workload. However, all the modifications in the work are going happening in the majority of works, the sociology it is
